Car Window Repair in San Diego

Stuck, slow or crooked? Fixed today.

When a window will not go up, drops into the door, tilts on the way down or rattles at speed, the glass is usually fine. The regulator, motor or track is not. We fix that at your curb, same-day in most cases.

What is actually wrong with a stuck window.

Inside the door, the glass rides in a track on a regulator, a scissor or cable mechanism driven by a small motor. Cables fray, plastic clips break, motors wear out. The symptoms are a window that moves slowly, stops partway, drops on its own, tilts, or makes a grinding noise. None of that is a glass problem, and none of it needs a new window.

How the repair goes.

The technician removes the door panel, pulls the glass out of the track if it has dropped, and replaces the regulator, motor or clips that failed. The glass goes back in, the window is cycled up and down to check alignment and speed, the door is resealed, and the panel goes back on. Most of it happens in your driveway.

Related services

Most stuck windows are a power window regulator repair. If the glass broke, it is a door glass replacement instead, done in the same visit. Both are part of our auto glass repair work, mobile through the whole county. Regulator work is a cash job; broken glass is an insurance claim.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions about car window repair.

My window fell into the door. Is the glass broken?
Usually not. A cable or clip on the regulator gave way and the glass dropped. We re-seat the glass and replace the part that failed.
How much does car window repair cost?
It depends on the vehicle and whether it is the regulator, the motor or both. We quote it on the phone once we know the year, make and model.
Can you fix it at my house?
Yes. Regulator and motor work is a mobile job anywhere in San Diego County at no extra cost.
What if the glass is actually broken?
Then it is a door glass replacement, which we also do at your curb, same-day in most cases, with the door cavity vacuumed out.
